Although glasses tend to be the first option for many people who require prescription eyewear, they are not always the most suitable solution for every patient. This is especially true if you have a particularly active lifestyle, or if you work in a job that requires you to wear protective eyewear. In these situations, glasses may not be safe or practical.

Many people have the misconception that contact lenses are much more expensive than regular glasses. However, we understand how limiting glasses can be for some patients and would never want you to compromise on your preferred solution because of expense. We pride ourselves on being an affordable contact lens provider able to serve patients in and around our offices in Southlake, TX.

If you are considering contact lenses, our experienced and friendly team would be happy to assess your requirements in a contact lens fitting appointment and talk to you about our range of affordable lens options.

What is a contact lens fitting appointment?

Your regular eye exam is used to assess the health of your eyes and determine if you have a refractive eye condition, such as near-sightedness, that mean that you would benefit from prescription eyewear. However, if you are planning on wearing contact lenses, you will need to have a series of additional checks as well. This is what is known as a contact lens fitting appointment.

Since contact lenses sit right on the surface of your eyes, we need to check that they will fit properly. To do this we will:

  • Examine the front surface of your eyes

  • Take measurements of the front surface of your eyes

  • Test your vision on a chart

We will also ask you for information about your day to day life and work which will help us to determine which lens type will best suit your lifestyle. Once we have made a recommendation, we will give you a sample lens to try so that we can check how it fits and whether it is comfortable. If so, we will be able to go ahead and order your prescription contact lenses. These usually take 7-10 days to arrive, at which time you will be invited in to collect them.

Collecting your contact lenses

When your new lenses have arrived, you will be asked to attend an appointment to collect them. In addition to picking them up, our team will show you how to insert and remove them and give you important information about the best way to take care of them and your eyes. We will also be happy to answer any questions that you have.

All of our patients deserve healthy eyes and clear vision, and we are committed to helping you find the most suitable solution for your individual needs.
